A pictureless post
My dear friend Darren (who also happens to be a professional and extraordinary talented photographer) came over to our house last weekend. I had begged Darren (Here to referred to as Ŝæŋŧóş - pronounced Santos) to come over to photograph Jack after my failed attempt to get a good picture for the Christmas card. We gave him a belly filled with homemade Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, fresh bread and beer ... and he gave us the most.amazing.pictures.EVER.
He took a ton of photographs. (Ŝæŋŧóş does NOT take pictures. He takes photographs) . Here is a link to some of our favorites.

Incidentally Jack would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Uncle Ŝæŋŧóş who is celebrating a big one next week. Jack says he knows it is rude to tell a person's age, so he is just going to give you a hint, which I will transcribe for him here. He says:
Dadadada da daaaaa da goy goy goy da da FORTY dadada daaaaa goy goy goy goy dada
Jack is not so good with the subtle hints.

All the independent babies ... Throw your hands up at me
He sits up:

He feeds himself from a bottle:
AND from a sippy cup:
He slices!
He dices!
Now we're working on getting him to change his own diaper.
Jack and the Fat Man
Never again.
Okay maybe again but good GOD it takes some time to get thru that line. Jack's Mima Cronin and I took him on a Thursday the week after Thanksgiving. We got there about 11:30ish and were 10th in line - if that. It still took us about 45 minutes to get Jack on the big guys lap. I couldn't figure out what was taking so long. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why we only moved about once every 10 minutes ... and then it hit me. All those kids in front of us were telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. I kept picturing what *I* was like on Santa's lap as a child:
"I want a Barbie - the Malibu one with the bathing suit and ummmmm, well, ummmmm, oh a cabbage patch kid! But NOT one with brown hair one with blonde hair. Definitely blonde hair. Preferably wearing a red or pink dress. What else? Ummmmm ... well ...hey look there's my mom! Hi mom! Hi! Do you see my mom Santa? Okay and I want an easy bake oven ... and ... and ... HEY your beard is very long!"
Christ on a cracker - I thought we'd be there for days. I think the rules for seeing Santa at the mall need to be changed. They need to enforce a NO talking to Santa rule. The kids can write him a letter instead. Then it's hop on his lap - hand him your letter - smile for the camera - and NEXT! Bim bam boom ... we'd be thru that line in 5 minutes flat. I think I might start an email writing campaign to the malls across America. I'll revolutionize Santa visits as we know them. I'll be famous.
Wait what was I talking about again? Oh yes - Jack.
I must admit this picture was worth the wait:

Jack was so good the entire time in line. And he didn't even blink an eye when I handed him to Santa. Jack's granny Gifford commented "That baby is so good natured he will go to anyone - as long as that someone is not in the ocean." True, Granny. How very true.
Gobble Gobble!
It's A Christmas miracle!!!!
The holiday season takes on a whole new meaning with a baby in the picture. Christmas card photo sessions .... visits to Santa .... shopping online to avoid taking a baby to a crowded mall ... whew.
Translation: We been busy! But we're back.
Thanksgiving took place at Aunt Sue and Uncle Paul's house. Granny, Gramps, Mima and Pop Pop were all in attendance. Aunt Linda was in Colorado working as it's their busiest time of the year so days off for trips home aren't an option! Uncle Boneman was in the last leg of his worldwide tour and spent Thanksgiving in Thailand. To quote Uncle Boneman "Nothing says Thanksgiving like getting kicked by an elephant!".
Here are Jack and his Granny Gifford showing off Jack's choice of outfits for the day. Jack chose his pea green tractor sweater (tractors = farming = harvest = Thanksgiving! Jack is a big fan of sticking to the day's theme when dressing.) accompanied by his tan sueded cords. A long sleeve white tee layered under the sweater finishes off the look. Jack insists that layering is crucial in putting together the perfect cool weather outfit.

And what did young Mr. Gifford have for dinner? Turkey .. mashed potatoes ... cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie! At least that is what we told him was coming out of the jars marked "Strained Sweet Potatoes" and "Pureed Bananas". Close enough, right!?!

I think all those carrots are turning Jack into Carrot top! Look at that hair!

Caught in the act!!
As I peer around the corner I see an empty bottle on the floor spinning slightly and slowly coming to a stop pointing at Jack ... and then.....

Is this a guilty face or what??? "We were just smelling each other -- honest!".
Suuuuure Jack. Sure.

Jack is feeling the froggy love!

Jack better watch it or he's gonna get a bad rep!
And speaking of the cat ...... In most families the 4 footed friends take a backseat once a baby comes onto the scene. Usually the dog/cat/hamster/kinkajou (Hey, Paris has one!) is lucky to get food much less attention of any sort.
Not in our house.
Here is what happens to Belle once the baby goes to sleep.

I think she's worn more of Jack's clothes then Jack has! :)
