It's time for breakfast in bed ....

It's time for breakfast in bed ...
It's time for breakfast in bed ...
For Daddy on Father's Day!

If you don't watch the Noggin Network and are not familiar with the singer, Moose A. Moose (the network's mascot. He's a moose, hence the name) then you are not familiar with that song. I wish I could think of a tune that it can be sung to but there really isn't one. It kind of has a conga beat to it and a little maraca shake sound at the end of each stanza. I've been singing it for days .. it's quite catchy! I think those of you "in the know" (read: Jack) would agree.

Incidentally I don't recall the moose having any kind of song for Mother's day. Not cool, Moose. Not cool at all.

So Dada's day did indeed begin with breakfast in bed. And a lovely breakfast it was! There was scrambled eggs ... bacon ... potatoes ... we even snipped the head off a rose and floated it in a short glass on the tray. Fancy, no? I unfortunately did NOT get a picture. Totally inexcusable, I know. I did, however draw a picture. Like to see it? Here it go:

I'm the tall thin one with the great hair and the big feet (I don't think I've ever looked so good in a picture!). Jack is the short one holding the card (he always looks good.)

We were scheduled to be at Mima and PopPop's house at 1:00 (ish. Since Jack came into the picture every time we schedule something that scheduled time is always an "ish". Come to think of it that's actually been the case since I met Mike!) for a late lunch/early dinner (Lunner? Dinuch?). Jack had a special shirt to wear to the festivities. Like to see it? Here it go:

Wondering where I found such an adorable customized shirt? Well I made it of course! No really I did. Impressed? Once again shocked by my limitless talents? Laughing because you know it was as simple as printing out a design onto special iron-on paper?

(Like to order your own custom Kelly original? Contact my people. But be warned, we have a longer waiting list then Hermes does for the Birkin bag. Also be warned that "my people" consist of a 13 month old whose vocabulary is limited to Dada and making dog, cat and cow sounds. Hmmm .. that might be the reason for my long waiting list!)

Upon our return from Mima and Pop Pop's Jack and I presented his Dada with a special gift we made for him. Earlier in the week we bought some wooden letters from Michaels and painted them in pretty yet manly colors. I then posed Jack in 3 separate pictures with the letters "D" "A" and "D". We then framed the photos in sequence spelling out the term "ADD".

KIDDING of course.

We then framed the photos in sequence spelling out the word "DAD". Prepare to be dazzled by an explosion of creativity:

Okay don't be too dazzled - totally got the idea off the internet. And it seemed like SUCH a good idea when I read it. Ummmm yeah. Try to get a one year old to sit still holding a wooden letter and or sit still next to a wooden letter. Unless said one year old is sleeping and/or seriously sedated it simply is NOT gonna happen.

The "making of" this gift is a whole 'nother post in itself. In my head the pics were going to have Jack in a SUPER cute outfit taken outside in the late afternoon sun on the patio with my pretty purple flowers as a backdrop. As you can see we ended up with Jack in a diaper taken in my bedroom as he was watching tv with my rumpled comforter as a backdrop. Lucky for us Dada loved his gift all the same.

The best part of the whole day was that I had Jack trained (what is he, my terrier?) so that I'd go "Haaaaaaapy Father's Day!!!" and then he'd go "DaDa!!!". SO SO cute. Beyond cute. Cute to like the 100th degree and then some.

Happy Father's Day to all!

Oops Jack did it again ...

So after "The Case of the Missing Nuggets" (Dun dun DUNH!) you'd think no WAY would Jack get away with something like that again, right? Right?

Well you'd think wrong.

The day before Father's Day and I was in the office checking onthe status of some pictures I was printing. When out of the kitchen there arose such a clatter! I grabbed my camera before running in, 'cause I had an idea what was the matter. I approached the kitchen 21 Jump Street style (I said jump! Down on Jump Street!), back against the wall, camera cocked and ready, then literally sprung out into the kitchen to find ...

Startled much, Jack?

Eyes cast down in shame after the big bust..

Still shameful, but still eating ...

Sheesh! I step out of the room for one second and come back to find the kid with a cookie in each hand AND one in his mouth. You'd think he'd learn. Or you'd think I would.

The case of the missing nuggets ...

So I'm making dinner last night (well, not so much "making" as "heating") and as I'm perusing the freezer Jack comes running over to take a peek. He likes looking in the freezer and loves touching cold things. Makes him laugh. Crazy baby. So anyway I turn away for one second to glance at Belle the cat who has just jumped up on the counter ("Where is MY dinner?" says Belle.) and when I turn my head back I see Jack running away from the freezer at full speed, laughing his little adorable head off. "That can't be good" I say to myself. (Okay actually I said it to Belle. Yes I talk to her. No I don't actually wait for a response. Well not all the time). But I figure he just found something a little more entertaining then the freezer ("impossible!" you say) and continue on my quest for suitable dining options.

I give the freezer the once over (and the twice over .. and the thrice over. I can stand in front of an open fridge/freezer staring aimlessly for hours.) to see what Jack might like:

Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pockets - a bit too spicy

Lean Cusine Skillet Meals (which I swore I'd be eating for dinner all the time but I've still yet to try) - Heck I won't even eat 'em!

Dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets - Hmmmm .... I know they are here somewhere! But where? I check high. I check low. The nuggets are nowhere to be found. The nuggets are in fact, MISSING!

Dun dun DUNH!

I grab the phone to call Billy Joe Jive, Super Crimefighting Ace and his partner Sweet Susie Sunset ....

but hang up when out of the corner of my eye I see ...

It can't be ..

Oh Jack! Say it ain't so!

And as I turn the corner (WARNING: not for the squeemish) ..

A nugget massacre of epic proportions.

Today I'm looking into joining nugget-anon (for parents of nugget-aholics). Keep us in your thoughts.

(PS: Anyone know how many crumbs come out of a bag of frozen nuggets when said bag is opened, turned upside down and shaken all over the kitchen floor? Anyone? Anyone?

Approximately 5,396,430. Approximately.)

Excuses, excuses ...

So I'm sure you're wondering why the lack of blog pics lately. Well lemme tell you - Jack LOVES the camera. Loves it. Pretty sure he wants to marry it and have little camera babies with it. "Well isn't that a good thing?" you say. "Not so much!" I say. Every time he hears the little "beep boop" of the camera turning on he screams with delight and comes running over at lightning speed to take possesion of "his" beloved photographic friend. It's so bad that I sometimes have to sneak out of the room so Jack can't hear the camera turn on, then try to take secret pictures of him when he's not looking. Incidentally I have a LOT of great pictures of the back of his head. Inevitably he always catches me snapping away and .....

(Whoa! Looks like someone needs his adorable little nose cleaned. The high definition these cameras can capture is quite amazing, no? Sorry about that Jack!)

So there you have it. Makes picture taking difficult to say the least.

Call it an excuse but it's the truth! (Ohhh - I love that! If I were an anchorwoman on the news that would SO be my nightly sign-off.)
