Baby G

Okay so when I originally found out I was with child (sounds so holy and angelic, no?) I started calling the bambino "number two". But since there is already something not-so-nice associated with "number two" I thought it best to come up with a new name. For now that name is Baby G. Of course, that name is subject to change at a moment's notice.

Today at lunch I had a marathon first prenatal appointment. Two hours, one
ultrasound and 5 vials of blood later I walked out with a smile on my face and a picture of Baby G in hand!

Awwww! ADORABLE, no? Baby G is looking good measuring in at just under an inch long. Head end to the left, tail end to the right, and the two little things you see sticking out mid baby are the beginnings of his/her arms! Heard the heartbeat and, boy oh boy (or girl. But PLEASE be a boy. **see footnote) is it ever strong. They are giving us an approximate due date of April 6th, 2010. That's 223 days until Miller time, people.

HA!

I kid, I kid. I'm not going to have a beer on the day I give birth, sillies! It's 224 days until Miller time, of course.

Here is a pic of Jack and Baby G. I asked him to hold the pic of "his baby" and look at the him/her lovingly. Here's what I got.

LOVING eyes, JGif, not HUNGRY eyes.

"One look at you and I can't disguise I've got .. Hunnnnnnngry Eyeeeees". Don't try to pretend you won't be singing that one in your head for the rest of the day.

I've got a ton of things to blog - I shall try to get to it this weekend. Swear - but if I don't it's just because I'm oh-so-tired. (FYI: I'll totally be milking the tired excuse for months.) But I really AM exhausted. Have you any idea all the work my body is doing right at this very moment? (Milking it like a cow.)

** footnote:
Since we have a boy you might be under the impression that we're hoping number two, oops I mean Baby G, will be a girl. If so your impression is wrong. I think we'll be in for big trouble if this child is a girl, people. Capital T Trouble. Capital and bolded T Trouble I say!

You see, if this child is a girl then I simply-will-NOT-be-able-to-go-on-living without buying her this Ivory Leopard Print Pettiskirt:

Seriously will NOT be able to go on without it. I'd simply cease to exist. And if you visit my new favorite website, PoshTots.com, you'll see that my will-cease-living-without-having Leopard Print Pettiskirt is currently selling for $98. I said $98. And if I purchase a $98 pettiskirt my dear loving husband would think I had dun-lost-my-mind and would most likely kick me out on my mind-losing a$$.
So to summarize - I buy the pettiskirt - my kids have a mama who is homeless. I don't buy the pettiskirt - my kids have a mama who will cease to exist. It's lose/lose! And that, dear blog readers, is why we're rootin' for BLUE!

Telling the grandparents!

So this past weekend Mike, Jack and I met my parents and Mike's parents out at Sully Plantation for their Civil War Encampent event that was going on this weekend:
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/sully/calendar.htm

Mike and I wanted to take Jack b/c he's obsessed with soldiers and battelfields lately (we have a number of battlefields in our area and we often drive by Bull Run Battlefield on our evening commute home). Jack is always wondering why we can't *see* the soldiers when we drive by the battlefields. Then I'm always explaining how the soldiers fought on those battlefields a long long time ago and have since passed on. Then he's always asking me if we can go to the battlefield and try to dig up the dead soldiers. Lovely! So when I read about the events at Sully where Jack could see soldiers without having to dig them up, I was all over it!

We invited both sets of grandparents b/c we knew the Grandpas would be way into it AND we figured it would be the perfect place to tell them all about baby-Gifford-to-be. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out a cute way to tell them. Then it hit me. Tell them while taking a photo! Then you get to capture the emotion on film. Brilliant, no!?

So once we got there I told all the grandparents to get together for a battlefield picture with Jack. Jack was completly entranced by a near-by tree and would NOT stand still in the picture to save his life. I shoo'd him off and told the grandparents I still wanted to get a pic of them since we don't get together with everyone like this all that much.

Then I said "Ready? 1-2-3 say" and then both Mike and I said "Kellys pregnant!". And they were all like "HA! Funny. Wait wha????"

Um - they thought we were kidding.

So then I said "Let's try this one more time - okay ready? 1-2-3 say Kelly is REALLY pregnant and I'm not kidding!". Annnd the money shot ...

Gran actually dropped to her knees with hands lifted in praise to God!

And the tears .. OH the tears ....

Whoa. Were these people ready for another grandchild or WHAT?!

Baltimore

Spent the night in Baltimore over the weekend. It's kinda late and I'm kinda tired and I have laundry to do (Are there cleaning people who will come in and just do laundry? Because if so I need one of those people) - but thought I'd post a quick highlight from dinner last night. We wanted to go somewhere quick and easy - and ended up at ....

Jack and his new BFFs:

WATCH those hands, boy!!!
