Sunday Funday

Oh you know ... just a normal Sunday afternoon around here ... climb on old tree stumps, hang out with a goat.

Summertime - and the livin' is easy!

And it's especially easy for these two.

The weather this past weekend was beautiful and much time was spent outdoors.   There was flag football playing (I'll post some pictures later), cooking out with friends, rocket launching (see previous post) and backyard water playing.  Kate had a blast squirting her brother - he thought it was hilarious.

Then he tried to squirt her back.  Apparently, not so hilarious.

Check out Handsome McSmoothypants over here.  If anyone can make a little pink baby pool look cool, it's this kid.

Waterslide!  It was a lot more fun then Kate's face in this shot would lead you to believe.

LOOK at this smile!!!  Do you just want to eat her up?  You do, don't you?  But please don't.

And the Summer has just begun!  Yippee and hooray!

3-2-1 Blast off!

So had I done a blog post about Christmas (I swear one is coming) you'd know that one of Jack's favorite gifts this year was the model rocket that Mike gave him.  This past weekend the boys spent some time building it (well mostly Mike built it while Jack mostly watched a Star Wars movie marathon) and today was launch day!  The boys ventured out to the fields near our house during Kate's nap time - so they made sure to get it on video for me.  I cannot believe how high these things go.  I had no idea!

Here is our boy retrieving his rocket after it parachuted back to Earth.  There is something else I didn't know about model rockets - they come back.  I thought they launched and then you just never saw them again.  But no - it comes back and you can launch it again and again.   And it has it's own little tiny parachute.  Who knew model rockets could be so adorable?

Next time they launch I'll have to get a shot of Jack standing next to the rocket - the thing is as tall as he is.

PS:  TWO videos in one week.  Consider my late and/or early Christmas gift to you.  You're welcome!

Sibling love

I know I've been a bad blogger.  But trust me, this video will more then make up for it.  May I present, the funniest brother in the history of Earth.

She just loves him SO much.  And he loves her right back.   As soon as he's done reading that book she immediately starts in with "Weed it again Jack?  Weed it again?  PEASE again?".  And read it again he does.  Over and over and over.  As long as she keeps asking he'll keep reading - because that's just the kind of brother he is.  You know, the awesome kind.

Easter Again ...

In preparation for Easter each member of the Gifford family chose a luxury to give up as a form of penitence, we acted out our own version of the stations of the cross, and fasted in the desert for 40 days. Okay well that was what we meant to do but things got busy so we ended up just dying eggs.
And by "we" I mean "me and Jack" because Mike was busy at Lowes and Kate was busy taking a nap. Kate + eggs = a REALLY bad pairing. We did make a Kate egg tho.
Kate egg on the right - Jack egg on the left. And below, all our eggs together.
Apparently we are way into happy eggs.

Easter morning the kids awoke to a breakfast buffet and a basket search! Well, minus the breakfast buffet.   Unless you consider peanut butter toast a buffet and then we totally had a buffet.

There were no baskets in the washing machine.

Laundry room, clear!

What kind of a cruel bunny would hide the baskets in this location? Jack and Kate thought it would be best to look just to be safe.

We thought all hope was lost but then - BUNNY TRACKS!
Jack was all "You guys, don't you think it's kind of weird that on one foot he has three toes and on the other he has four toes?" and I was all "You know Jack, we have no idea what this bunny has been through. What I do know is that making fun of the bunny's malformed feet is a good way to buy yourself a one way ticket to coal-in-your-basketville next Easter."  No mention was made of the errant 4th toe after that.

The deformed foot tracks led us straight to the kid's baskets behind the chairs in the living room where the bunny hides them every.single.year.  Guess those wonky toes must make him/her lazy!

The loot!  You might notice a lack of candy in the baskets.   That is because Jack is still not a big fan of candy (except for Reeses) and given the option Kate will just take a lick or two of whatever candy is given to her, and then leave the remainder on the couch.  So small toys it is.
KGifJr was entirely too busy to be bothered with posing for me.

One more Easter post detailing all the fun we had at Mima and Popo's Easter celebration is coming your way tomorrow.   And I do have every intention of getting it done tomorrow.  Just keep in mind I also had every intention of fasting in the desert for 40 days pre-Easter and we all know how that turned out.

Ciao!
